This is in remembrence of Devo

who my Husband always called the

best dog in the world.

He was right.

I remember the day we found you,

we didn't even want a dog.

We were just helping a friend move into a new place

when we went poking around in the garage

To our horror we saw the previous tenant

had left behind a mother and a litter of puppies.

It was in December and below zero.

I saw you right away;

you were half the size of the others.

I picked you up and put you in my coat pocket.

You fit with room to spare.

We didn't think you would make it.

Ray made a bed for you in the cellar next to

the wood stove and there he slept

with you until you grew stronger.

I remember how you would run so fast;

you would dig up the grass.

You would spin

around in circles earning

your the nickname Spinner.

You never slowed

down right to the end.
