Dog

IN A SHORT LIFE SHE WAS A TRUE FRIEND

In October we became aquainted with a small black and

white dog who entered our life like a bombshell

The Garden would never be the same

the broom was an enemy to be killed on sight

the next door neighbour was an excuse for a frenzy of leaping and barking.

Always at the door when she could not beat you through it

was a smiling face with a ball stuck in it.

A Story Book dog that any boy would love for life.

She would lie at our feet when we used the computer

sit beside me with her head on my shoulder when I was watching football.

She lived hard and played hard in a life which was just a huge game.

She taught us how to live and

love with all our being in the short months she was with us.

She was always going for one bigger and better and faster

and this would eventually prove fatal.. A car is too big.

We will miss the smile and the ball at the door and

the continual disputes

about bones with Pippin and all the yard in tatters.

Most of all we will miss the unconditional love and

the smile that split her hairy face at the sight of anyone to play with.

We will miss her heart and soul.

You will always walk in our memories.
