Our Dear Little Wanted
When we first saw you in the pet store as a full grown rat in a cage with many babies we wondered why no one had taken you home yet. When they told us it was only because you were just plain brown and everyone always chose the fancier rats we decided that just wasn’t right. We took you home and named you Wanted to sybolize that no matter what you looked like you were loved and very much wanted by us. You rewarded us by being the friendliest and sweetest rodent we had ever owned.
While your cagemates Gypsy and Kelsey would run and hide you were always the first one to come to the cage door to see what was going on. You loved attention and loved being held and played with. You were so good with the kids never biting or scratching; and always being so patient while they played with you. We know you were lonely when Kelsey and then Gypsy died. You had that big cage all to yourself and everytime you would see us you wanted out to play.
Papa Denis misses having you sitting on his shoulder while he’s on the computer and your corner of the room just looks so empty now. Whenever I buy babybel cheese I think of you and remember how much you loved it. We were so sad when we realized that you had cancer but your spirit never changed. You remained so happy and playful while we spoiled you in those last few months with tons of attention and lots of treats. It was so hard when it was time to say that final goodbye. We really loved you Wanted – more than even we thought possible.
I hope that you have found your friends Gypsy and Kelsey(and Rosie who passed before you were here) and that you are all playing happily in the meadows at the Rainbow Bridge. We will miss you Wanted and we will remember you forever.
