Sugar Bear by Kristina Crews / Sissy

Sugar Bear, my first ever dog,

I got her when I was in 1st Grade. I was so excited. We had to write in a journal every day for school, and I would always write about my best, most loyal friend ever; Sugar Bear.

I am in 9th grade now, and she died January 17, 2002, last year. It was a very tragic day because we were having her put to sleep because of cancer,
but she was almost gone anyway.

We have our baby girl buried in our backyard with flowers planted on her grave. My 2 dogs and I go back there every once in a while. Koal is 3, almost 4, and he wouldn’t eat for a week when she passed away. He was grieving just like us. But then last October we rescued a dog from the Animal Hospital of Clemmons that they had found in a box with his siblings in front of a church. He was about 2 months old. We named him Kane. He is a golden retriever/yellow labrador mix.(Koal is chow/black labrador mix). So now Koal has recovered as we have, too, but she is always in our hearts.

With Love to my Baby Girl,
Sugar Bear
