Trotter by Jeff Elmer / Love,
Jeff

If you are a boy, you are coming with me” Those were the words I used as I looked in the cages in the pet store for my boy. I was so set on another Cocker Spaniel to add to the one we already had and knew I wanted a male.
I had the name picked out already, I just needed the dog. Low and behold the last cage I came to here was my boy just sitting there waiting for me.

That was the start for Trotter. He took to our other cocker (Fletch)and a great friendship grew. Trotter was a bit of an independant dog yet showed his love for me in various ways. Trotter passed away yesterday.
He was my friend for 14 years. He looked at me recently and told me that he had enough. I wanted to make him stay longer until my vet told me that quality is better than quantity. I gave up my selfishness and parted ways with Trotter.
I was with him as he lost life in his body but his life will always live on with me forever. I have 3 other cockers at home to lessen the pain but for me the loss of Trotter will never be gone.

I smile when I think back to that day in the pet store. I’m so glad he came into my life and stayed for a very long time.
Thank you Trotter for a wonderful life!

Thanks for being my friend Trots!
