Haley by J. Dan Beard / Your Daddy

17 years, 10 months and 6 days = 6,518 days
you were on this earth.

Each day your goal was to show your unconditional love, express caring and affection for those around you as you flowed through the ebb and tide of your life a special gift that humans should aspire to.

From your younger years when you were romping about diving into the swimming pool and floating on a pool raft at your leisure or playing rough and tumble with any of your brothers and sister of the feline or canine persuasion –  to your twilight years when a good nap, a good meal, and sweet cuddle were your heart’s delight.

You were the matriarch, our old lady, the gran dame of our household.

All of our memories together are precious and dear to our hearts and your paw print is on our hearts forever.

As I held you in my arms last night,
as you slowly slipped away,
I wished for so many things,
but not that you would stay.

We relived precious memories,
each one a special treat.
You were leaving for the Rainbow Bridge,
where once again we’d meet.

There are so many memories,
and many more I cannot recollect.
I’m glad we shared your ending together,
to travel life’s memories and reflect.

Your job on earth is over,
you’ve championed your last cause.
As I wept for you,
you kissed me good-bye, and let me hold your paws.

As we both grew quiet,
our mutual fears subsided.
It was time for you to take your leave.

Thank you for loving me,
and leaving me this way.

There was no big commotion,
just a slow slipping away.
Comforted by each other we parted,
until another day.

Your life on earth is over
but my memory of you will never fade.

Sleep well my precious baby, romp again with Basia until we meet again at Rainbow’s Bridge.

With love,
Haley
