Our true soulmate, Mackie, has left us and is achingly missed. His health took a turn this past week when we were in Houston and our blessed pet-sitter, Laura, kept him still and loved till our return. We were able to get kisses and he was able to have pretzels, but he no longer could move about and we knew what we needed to do. This was a GREAT dog … Mackie did many years of pet-assisted therepy in Houston and a little at the care center in Ruidoso. He always knew how to “work the room” and would put his front paws up on the bed to get closer to those who were bed-ridden. He made the trip with Rick from Houston to Ruidoso when we moved back in 1994. He has been a fun and loving buddy to Moka, who he now joins, and Dakota and Scout who are left behind.
He leaves a huge void in our lives and we know our hearts will never quite be the same. We thank God for this wonderful gift we have been blessed with for 15 years and 8 months and pray now for his spirit to join all the many others who went ahead of him. He has left big paw prints on our hearts. Good-bye Mackie!!
