Gracie came into rescue from TN. When Floyd and I went down to get her we knew from the minute we saw her it was love at first sight. She was our first foster that we failed with, we could not let her go.

She was a character from the minute she entered our home. Once into our house within a matter of minutes she had got onto the kitchen counter and turned on the kitchen faucet. Water flying everywhere and Gracie running in glee. Next thing she turned our end table upside down with the lamp flying. There was not a piece of furniture or clothing that she did not chew. But we knew she had found her forever home.

What a challenge she was, she had been so abused we could not even touch her without her biting. I have several scars from her bites. But with lots of love Gracie turned into a love bug.

But one thing Gracie was is our pure Joy. She made us laugh at everything, she was such a character. She loved us, life, her sisters, going for walks, bye-byes and her sisters especially her Brittany.

Yesterday morning she was not voiding and then had trouble breathing. Brittany was just sitting there shaking and crying. We took her to the Vet but on the ride down she was sitting on my lap. She turned with those big beautiful dark eyes and looked at me. I kissed her and she almost smiled. I had not seen her open her eyes since Wednesday. She was actually enjoying the ride. We got to the Vet’s office and she was looking around, her eyes big and bright. We told the Vet we can’t do this yet, she is still fighting. On the ride home she was Gracie Lou. She was so animated and enjoying her ride on Daddy’s lap then she wanted back with me. We thought our silly Gracie’s spirit is still with us. We got home and Gracie drank some water and even had a few licks of her Daddy’s ice cream. She sat up on the bed and I knew she had to go potty. She was such a southern lady, with so much dignity. I told her just to pee on the bed but I could tell she did not want to. I carried her to the deck and laid her down but she just laid there. I brought her in and laid her back on the bed with Floyd. We were all in the bedroom with her even Cara and Brandi her pack was with her. They just quietly laid beside her and Brittany was kissing her. Gracie seemed so happy. I went to make her something to eat and came back a minute later to find her gone. Floyd said she was trying to kiss him and she died. We all held her and all I could say was she truly looked like a Angel, sleeping and was so beautiful.

Gracie wanted us to remember her as we loved her. So full of spirit and such a joy. These past few days were not our Angel. We could never tell Gracie to do anything she was a girl of independent thought. She even went to the bridge on her terms.

Our last memory of Gracie today was she made us laugh with her silly antics. I even think she could see again and had her big smile on her face. As we carried her back into the Vet’s office wrapped in a bankie I said to Floyd even in her death she has the most beautiful smush face I have ever seen.

We are in shock, we just can’t believe on Monday Gracie was going bye-byes with me and less than a week later she is at the bridge. We have never dealt with AIHA before but it is devastating, a silent killer. We have lost other angels but not like this so suddenly.

She was always our sweet face Angel Gracie full of grace, with her slightly tilted halo. I know she is running with the angels.

Baby Angel look for your sister Kesha and have fun until we get there.

Love you Baby girl, you truly left pawprints on our hearts forever,
