She came to us in an unusual way.
She left us as unusual as she came.
I woke up one morning and saw her. Her shivering body and her eyes that reflected cowardice suggested that she just came and she was not liking her new environment, yet. I was touched when she approached me and kissed my feet. I picked her up and whispered “You’re not a slave. Don’t kiss me in the feet. I will not be your master. I will be your friend.” I gave her food, water to drink, and a place where she can sleep peacefully at night. From that day forward, our friendship grew.
We were together almost everyday. She did not leave me. She cried when I was gone. Showed excitement when she saw me coming. She would kiss me when I came near her. She guarded when I was sleeping. I wished I could do the same way to her, but I just couldn’t.
Years passed, we grew older and older. She did not change, I did. The time came when I almost did not notice her. There were times I shouted at her, or even kicked her. But she continued to be my loyal friend. She still kissed me, followed me, guarded my nights. And me, disregarded her unconditional love.
This morning, I woke up and did not see her. I was prepared to give her food and water, but she did not come. She did not appear by my side. I went to the garage and prepared to leave still thinking where my friend was. Right there and there, my question was answered. I saw her, lying in the ground. My body froze realizing that her body wasn’t shivering anymore and her eyes, I couldn’t see her eyes.
She came to us in an unusual way, or that was just me thinking. But I’m pretty sure she really left us in the same unusual way I thought she came.
