Dear Miss Maggie,
It has been less than 24 hours since you left us. I hurt. I cry. Your years with us were wonderful. We knew how much you loved us. You showed your love to us every day. Your kisses…..were always special. You were always here to greet us at the door. You loved to sit, shake and lay down and roll over to get a treat. Chew-time was a favorite time for you. You were so smart and a good girl who put her chew-time away. At Christmas you were excited to get the biggest chew-time (rawhide bone). You were a happy girl and brought joy to our family in so many ways. Each of us will remember our own special times with you. You were a friend and loyal companion. We knew the time would come; but it came sooner than we expected or wanted.
I did not know that yesterday would be the day. We knew you had pain and we knew your discomfort. You tried to be strong and happy for us. You gave us kisses; we took more pictures; and we talked to you. You looked at us. We looked into your eyes and held you. You knew it was time to go. We could see the contentment and peaceful feeling within you. Thank you Maggie for everything you have given to us.
We will never forget you. We will always remember you. And, Elmer…well, he’s keeping your new bed warm. He misses you. You were like a big sister to him. I guess he is the ruler of the animal kingdom at the house now.
