Tomodachi by Anne and Kevin

In Memory of Tomodachi Kuma

We met you in the pet store with those lonely eyes
Our hearts were taken; you were to stay no more.
Home you came as we vied
Not to let you suffer in that store.

Emma already in the house, questioned your presence
The ride home certainly proved that!
Whenever your two bodies happened to touch
She decided then and there her domain.

It didn’t take long for friends to begin
My chairs in the kitchen also noticed the change.
Tomodachi & Emma working through thick and thin
Leaving not a hint of what we would soon engage.

The numerous times to the vets
The shots we had to administer
We did what we could even taking you afar
In order to help you and find that cure!

We traveled to Boston, even communicated with California
Hooked up on the Akita website still looking for answers
The later of the two started to warn us
That our struggle was starting to be futile.

We spent the money not blinking an eye
As you were the dog that brought us both great joy.
My hat’s off to you Buck, as You were the trooper
Through the whole ordeal, never a whimper.

Even in the end you wouldn’t succumb
To the throws life’s fate had in store
Leaving all of us very numb
And wishing we could have done more.

Rest in peace Tomodachi-
You now can wait peacefully at Rainbow Bridge.

Love you always,
Tomodachi
