Ben by John & Bekye Eckert and the late Peggy Terl / John, Bekye, Abby and the little train wrecks

There were only two kinds of people in Ben’s world: Ben’s friends and the friends he hadn’t met yet.

Adopted in 2004, he was the loving companion of Peggy Terl until she crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2007, and then he cared for his dad during their mutual grief. He was best man at our wedding, and lovingly tolerant of the little dogs who joined the family.

In his memory, as his soul leaves us to join his mom, here is his dad’s favorite song:

“Imagine”

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one.

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one.

Enjoy meeting new friends at the Bridge,
until we can join you,
Ben
