You were in such horrific condition when you arrived in rescue, the victim of abuse and neglect so severe it was truly a miracle that you survived it. But you were a fighter. Your spirit was strong even though your poor body was weak and sick. Life had been cruel to you but you rose above with a strong desire to live, to love, and to be loved.
And we loved you so! You came to us fifteen months ago and quickly found your way into our hearts. Even with your health challenges you were determined not to miss anything! You loved to explore, often wandering aimlessly for hours, earning you the nickname of Moses. You and your best friend, tiny and often cranky HollyRose, shared a favorite bed in our bathroom, and you were very unhappy when that bed had to be washed! You did not like change and were quite vocal about it!
Your combination of sweetness and spiritedness was captivating! To see you, who had gone through so much and had suffered so greatly, bunny-hopping up and down the hall like you owned the place was a delightful sight!
You were our miracle boy. Several times we thought we were going to lose you to the effects of a lifetime of suffering. But you fought on, with a tremendous will to live, and earned yourself another nickname … our “11th Hour Miracle”.
But your weakened body finally overcame your spirit, and today it was time to let you go home to God. I hope you felt the great love we have for you, the many prayers we’ve prayed for your welfare, and the tears we shed now that our arms and your favorite bed are empty. No matter how much we gave you it never seemed to us like enough to compensate you for all you suffered before you came to us. But we know now that you are safe and free, and enjoying abundant health again … and we know
we will see you again someday.
Thank you for being you, for fighting so hard to survive, for your willingness to love and for sharing with us the incredible being that was you.
You were a gift and a joy and we will love you forever,
