In September 1995, Atasha Jake won GRAND PRIZE in a Contest for the Milan Humane Society Of Rock Island Country Calendar for 1996 and his picture appeared on the “Hard Cover Front Page”. His picture was also on a sweatshirt and in the Newsletter. I love my Jake and proud of him. I took a beautiful background of Evergreen trees with full snows and deep feet of the snow ground where he stands. It was so perfect picture for my Christmas picture.
I got him “FREE” and he had 7 lovely sisters and 2 brothers. I wish I had adopted all of them, but I picked one. I named him “ATASHA JAKE” instead of “Lassie” although
he looked like Lassie.
I loved this dear dog very much and adored him so much. He had wonderful times with me on horse trail rides, riding in the car, moving 3 times and visiting with friends Who have dogs, going to campgrounds, and visiting the shelters, many mores? My nieces and nephews borrowed Jake for Pet shows at their schools. Everyone thought he was LASSIE.
His favorite activity was chasing airplanes, because we lived within 5 miles of the Airport area. He always listened for the planes and ran and barked when they flew over our farm. That was his hobby for years.
When he was getting older and changes his health. He can’t chase the planes because he can’t hear and didn’t see very well. He was 13 years old and he had a great life. I decide to have a second dog from the shelter and meet Jake for his company. His name was ATASHA LUCKY. Jake and Lucky have a wonderful companion for 7 months.
Sadly, he had euthanized on October 25, 1999 because of his health and hip problem. It broke my heart and my heart feels empty without him. Jake, I am sorry and have no choice, but I didn’t want to see his worse suffer and emotion through the wintertime. He died with me at 6:30 pm. He looks very peaceful and I cried on him and said, “Good bye, my baby”. He doesn’t have been alone and he joined with my oldest 17-½ years old cat, Tabby II on same year.
Tabby died in May 1999.
When I buried him on the evening of October 25 in the farm pasture. Lucky was standing with me and he heard my emotion cried and he come to me. We hugged together until I told Lucky that Jake might join the plane up to the Rainbow’s Bridge. When the airplane was flying over our farm and makes me sad and said to Jake, Good Bye!
God Bless Jake, Will see you some time.
