Dear Katie Bug,

It is coming up on your birthday and even though it has been more than a year, I miss you as though it were only yesterday. You were with me for almost 15 years, in so many places and you made yourself right at home wherever you were. I miss you being right behind me in the yard, your romantic affinity for Poodles, your gentleness and most of all, how you kept your eyes on me wherever I went.

You grew from being a tiny little terror to a wonderful and devoted lady. Do you remember the rainy camping trip when you were almost washed down the mountain? Do you remember Glen? Are you with him now? Ending your life was by far the hardest thing I have ever done. I still doubt that I did the right thing. You trusted me and I dealt you the ultimate betrayal. Can you forgive me, my baby?
