BAMBINO PEEBLES by DEBERA R. SMITH / YOUR MOM, DEB

Bambino Peebles, known to me as Bambi came to me at the age of 5. She had a very bad start in life. Her former owners broke her back and ips, so the4 Vet took her out of that home4 and gave her the medical help she needed. Then when she was healed, she went to PUG RESCUE.

I received a call from PUG RESCUE, (as they knew that I just lost a pug) asking me if I wanted an older female pug, who was very special. Without a doubt, I said yes. I have been doing RESCUE for over 20 years when BAMBI, joined our family. I was advised that BAMBI had problems with men, and U said no problem. A time and place were set up sand I went to meet Jane and pick up BAMBINO. Dhe wqs in the front seat on our way home and I asked her if she was ready to go home forever. She sat up, tongue hangind out( she was a dry tongue pug which means her tongue was bigger than her mouth), and wagged her tail. She was a happy little girl. When Bambi and I got home, she went up to my husband and sat on his lap. She knew that she had a forever home. That was in 1999.

At that time, I had 5 other Rescues that stayed with me until they passed on. Bambi, has been through many losses in her little life, but she wss loved and spoiled.

Bambi was in good health until Jan. 2008,at which time the Vet did and x-ray to see if she had a chest cold. Bambi having a long tongue also had a collapsable trachea and on occassion she would start coughing.

She had turned 13 in Nov. and she wqs placed on two meds to help with the cough. At first it helped then in March I took her back to the Vet and another x-ray, this time her trachea was pusing a the top of one of her lungs. She was still eating, playing, barking and being Bambi. She was in no pain, as the meds helped. Then on April 11, I had Milo to the vet, and she asked how Bambi was. I told her that I did increase the cough pills, and even though she was still eating and drinking, she was coughing more. At that time I knew Dr. McDivitt if she would be in on April 14, and I did say that I was concerned that she was not herself. So I decided that on April 14, 2008 that the greatest gift of love that I could give to Bambi was to set her free.

I looked at my husband on the 11th and told him that her time was short, he started to cry as he felt that it was too hard for him. I told him that the weekend was Bambi’s and that she would be fine. Bambi was so funny. When she sat on your lap she would sit up and if yu rubed the back of her head she would fall asleep.

Rescuing never gets any easier, but the love of a pet is forever in your memory. On April 14, 2008 Bambi went to sleep very peacefully, in my arms. And to Bambi, you were loved not only my me but also by your 4 legged brothers and sisters. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN AT THE RAINBOW BRIDGE YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART.

WILL ALL OUR LOVE FOREVER,
BAMBINO PEEBLES
