When I buried Dutchess I saw a found ad and I called the number. A lady found this golden in Sept. 1990 as he was dumpted. So I met with him. You could tell this gentle giant had been abused. The lady called the next day and I got Bear. We drove back to Kokomo and he laid in may lap all the way. He was big gentle and beautiful. We now had Brandi Jake and now Bear. He was my heart. I had his portrait taken at Olan Mills. He was so good. But when I rescued the next one-Sydney {who is still alive today 2001} some bad behavior but nothing serious.
He was with us until May 23 1990 when I thought he got stuck by a bee. He’s breathing was shallow. Rushed him to the vet and the vet asked if I used lawn chemicals. I don’t but neighbor does weekly. He said let me give him meds and call in the morning. That was a sleepless nite. I had this feeling but lit my candles and prayed I couldn’t lose another so soon. The next morning I called. They put me on hold and when the vet answered I said can I get my boy silence the the vet cried and said he passed. My heart was destroyed.
I asked why-lungs collapsed due to chemicals. He was too big to bury and I tried to dig but was told to take him to vet that cremated. I held him and said good bye my gentle giant. His remains were buried with a yellow rose within my pet cemetery.
I know he is with Sam Dutchess Brandi and my mom and one day we wll be together in spirit although his spirit is with me.
