Just wanted to tell about our experience with a little squirrel, Miss Bunnytail. We called her that because a few winters ago she froze off half of her tail. We thought she looked like a little bunny hopping around so we nicknamed her Miss Bunnytail. She loved peanuts and would come to our backdoor and look in to see if we would give her any. I would open the door and she would sit there and wait until I threw them on the porch for her.
Our granddaughter used to love sitting in our bedroom and watch her hide her peanuts. She was quite the worker. When the other squirrels would be playing she was working getting ready for winter. A few weeks ago we noticed when she came on the porch the left side of her face was all swollen and her eye looked weird. We noticed that she couldn’t eat or hide her peanuts anymore so I shelled them for her and gave them to her. I could walk up to her because she couldn’t see out of her left eye.
I kept watching for her everyday and would have her peanuts ready for her and then one day she never came. You could almost set your clock to when she ate but I haven’t seen her for quite awhile now so I feel that she’s never coming back. I hope she’s in heaven hiding her peanuts and wagging her little stubby bunnytail. She was one of a kind and anyone that saw her knew she was a special little squirrel.
We will miss seeing her and feeding her. We hope all her pain and suffering has ended and she can be free again.
Rest in Peace Miss Bunnytail
