I hope you saw us tonight Apollo we went down to the plank with

a plaque in your memory on the Boardwalk at Winnipeg Beach.

It was very dark but we took a flashlight (as if we didn’t know where

your spot was on the boardwalk we visit there so often but we wanted

to be able to read your plaque) and the stars shone so brightly.

We took a candle and lit it and stood looking silently at your plaque and

cried as we still miss you so and cannot believe how fast these two years

without you have gone by.

Although you were not a war hero and we certainly do not want to

offend the war veterans but you were our hero and we placed one of

our poppies into the wooden plank as a tribute to someone we loved so much.

We left the candle burning and sat down on the bench which is right by

your plank/plaque and looked out at the calm lake and bright sky full of stars

and we picked out a star that we knew was you and now Sara,

looking down upon us.

You both twinkled so brightly at us it almost seemed like you were trying

to send us signals. We sat for a long time thinking and telling our

favorite stories of you and asked that you take good care of your

sister Sara now that she is at the Bridge with you.

We hope you are having fun at the Bridge and we want you to know

that your memory is still so fresh with us and

always will be forever Pookie.

I have your bunny with your T-shirt on it right next to me in bed so

you are close by always.

Dad laughed when we thought about the cookie episode and

remember the time you ran into the men’s washroom on a run back

during a flyball tournament??

We watched some of the tapes of your flyball tournaments on

the weekend especially the one where you became the

First Flyball Bull Terrier Champion (FbDCh) in North America!

No other bully has surpassed your record since you got your

title in 1992 in Minneapolis Minnesota.

Everyone at the tournament whether Canadian or American were

ecstatic at your record.

The teams from Minnesota got together and bought you

a Minnesota Vikings collar and leash so of course they became

our favorite American Football Team and you looked

awesome in that collar and leash!

Take care Pookie you are still very much in our thoughts,

remembrances of you are all around us here at home

and will be forever.

Take care Pookie –

Love Mom and Dad Bandit Zyggee Whitney,

Derek and Big Redd

P.S. Oh yes I am sure you know that we now have a red and

white kitty cat I know you wouldn’t like that at all!

Remember the time you went right through the back glass door

after a cat that was sitting on our deck, and you lept off the steps

only to land on your belly the cat long gone!!

We still laugh about that one thank goodness you were not hurt

just your pride we guess!!

We think you would like Big Redd if you met him he is a darling

and we would ask that you be his

guardian angel too.
