You stood alone in that big field
when I first saw you with your feet
so long and your legs crooked from the neglect.
You were so scared of us you wouldn't
even let me catch you to get you onto the trailer.
I knew I had to save you from that life and give
you one that was better;
one where you would be cared for and loved.
It took you so long to grow to trust me
but then suddenly you were no longer
the shy scared horse that you came as
but instead the loving friendly "pocket pet"
that you had become.
For you to allow the boys to ride you
showed your love for us
since you let no one else on your back
but yet you carried them so carefully
so that they wouldn't fall off.
You have given me two beautiful foals
that I adore but for you
to leave us so soon was unbearable.
No one knows why you died that night
and it broke my heart to see you there
and know that I was too late to save you.
Not knowing why is the worst part of it all.
Why did you leave us?
How was YooHoo supposed to make it
without you at only 72 days old?
I saved you from a home that didn't care for you
but yet it seems that the neglect from that other home
is what caused your death.
We loved you so much and it hurts me
to have to care for YooHoo every day and know
that he doesn't have his momma anymore.
I promised you that I would care for YooHoo
and love him and I have kept my word.
He is growing big and strong now and
he will live with me forever.
I know that you are happy now and running free
but I still wish you were here with me.

in their minds and their hearts a memory shall stay".
We love you Casey and will remember you always.
