Cupid was not a dog, he was a smart little person in a Bichon body. Cupid was larger than standard because he needed the size to hold his big brain. Cupid was scary smart, loved everyone, sweet and a big kisser. His faults were very few – yes, indeed, he was a food hog. He lived to be with people and eat. Cupid’s life would not have been worth living were he not able to eat his favorite foods. Cupid had a huge vocabulary – a few of the words he knew were Car, Walk, Out, Tee-tee, Too-Too, Leash, Give me a Kiss, Outside, Pizza, Chicken, Burger, Wendy’s, Food, Yes, No, Come, Down, Sit, Stay, Quiet, No Bark. He could spell too – Car, Walk, Out, Pizza, Food, Kiss, Leash.
Cupid liked to dress-up in clothes and halloween was his favorite holiday. He strutted in costume and greeted trick-or-treaters at the door while trying to kiss them. Sometimes you would hear a squeal and know that he had managed to get his sweet tongue in a little girl’s mouth. After the night was through he protested when we tried to remove his costume.
Cupid came to us every day about 4:30 p.m., stretched, made his “Cupid noises” and brought a squeaky toy. Yes, he could talk. He talked when he wanted a walk, food, water and when Dragon and Lady had needs. He slept many nights with a fuzzy toy under his little chin. We are lost without him.
Cupid passed on to heaven and the life force has left our house. Cupid was there to hold us all together. All that is left is sorrow. Lowell, me, Dragon & Lady are truly lost. We don’t know what to do. We now realize that for the past 13 yrs. Cupid has been in charge of our lives and happiness. Why did Cupid have to be taken from us so suddenly? Did we do the right thing by sending him to heaven so he would no longer suffer? Yes, maybe we could have saved Cupid for a few more months, but wanted him to have dignity. He was so sick and so sad. An hour has not gone by without tears being shed for him.
To know Cupid was to love him and everyone loved Cupid – even strangers.
Why did he have to leave us?
We will love you forever, Cupid,
