To my loving Espree
We didn't get a chance to spend any years together
And boy the time that we did have flew right by
When I think of the places we've been to
And the things we've done you and I
Other people say "don't drive yourself crazy"
But it wasn't time to let go
But our bond was so deep and so loyal
And my God they can't possibly know
You were there when I needed compassion
Always waiting when we were apart
Then you'd welcome me home I looked in your eyes
I could see all the way to your heart
Now I feel so close with my sorrow
It's hard when things come to an end
Others say "it's OK it was only a dog"
But I know you were more than a friend
My little Espree was taken away from me very suddenly
we didn't get a chance to spend very much time together
but the time we did have I'm thankful for.
Don't worry Espree I still have the other dogs here to take
some of the pain away but Banker doesn't let me hug him
like the way I hugged you and I'm going to miss that very much.
I still find it very hard to go past your empty bed in the morning.
I'm missing you very much I can't wait until I see
your face and your wagging tail at me again soon.
Goodbye Espree and I will see you soon.
