Heidi,
You were a great dog, loyal companion to all of us, great protector, and you still knew how to have fun with all your pals. She loved to go for rides in truck, she even chewed the mud flaps when she was a puppy. She was 11 years old, we knew she was getting old, but still, you are never prepared for them leaving you. She had calcium deposits on her spine, pressing on her nerves so she couldn’t walk the last 2 days of her life, the vet also said she had a mass in her abdomen, he said the best thing was to put her to sleep. The HARDEST thing my husband and I ever did, I hugged her endlessly, kissed her, told her to play up in heaven and she would see all her old pals, Casey, Jack, Foxy (3 legged elkhound), Maggie, and all the other pals she knew.
I cried for 3 days, it was harder than I ever thought it would be. We had her cremated, and there’s a big oak tree in our front yard that she used to lie near and just watch our kids and play with our other dogs and chase sticks. We plan to scatter her ashes there.
Heidi, we miss you a lot, feels like there’s something missing around here. Hope you are having a good time and you can walk again where you are. We will see you again someday.
Love, Mom and Dad and the kids.
