Houdini by Shawn & Dominique / Love,

Mommy, Daddy, and all your sisters.

Houdini was in our lives for such a short time, but she’ll be in our hearts always.

We adopted her in August 2006 and immediately discovered that she was great at finding obscure hiding places – inside of TVs, basement walls, etc. She loved to go outside and take walks wearing her harness. She walked so good on a lead, unlike most cats. She had a favorite stepping stone outside, a broken cat made from poured concrete. It was always her first stop outside – lick it, rub against it,
lay on it, whatever.

Houdini was also a great traveler – she would alternate between sitting on Mommy’s lap and climbing around the back of the car meowing at fellow motorists.

She also had interesting dietary preferences, often opting for scrambled eggs and alfalfa sprouts over cat food. When she did choose to eat cat food, she showed no fear when swiping food from fat cats like Lemon Pepper.

When she wasn’t outside, or finding new places to hide out inside, she loved to have her belly rubbed – something only Mom was allowed to do.

When Houdini passed on June 1st, we were shocked because she was doing so great the previous day. At least we know she spent her last day on Earth eating sardines and scrambled eggs while purring and getting lots of love. She left us the same way she did everything in life – on her terms.

We'll never forget you, sweetie.
