Jeckyll was with me for 15 years–
he walked with me through dark times and danced with me during happy times.
He accepted each new kitty brother or sister into his home with grace, but always letting them know that he was The Senior Cat.
Jeckyll slept with me–usually on my chest–and gave me comfort as an older college student who was trying to work and go to school too, and learn some difficult math.
And then when I had a better job due to college, Jeckyll’s fibrosarcoma emerged. We fought the good fight for 3 1/2 years: financed by my better job. He emerged bravely and strongly from 11 operations to try to help him over those years, and then co-operatively endured the last 6 months of his life with fluid treatments for beginning kidney failure. Though he withered, his spirit still soared, always ready to get up and see what was to eat at mealtimes.
When Jeckyll went to Rainbow Bridge surrounded by all those who loved him and helped him, he knew our love for him and his spirit leaped into a sunny meadow, fluffy and restored to his youth and handsomeness to play in the sunshine forevermore.
I miss you, sweet baby angel.
