♥JESSA♥ by NEW ENGLAND ANIMAL RESCUE / New England Animal Rescue

Jessa was a very sweet-seven-year-old Shih Tzu girl who weighed a mere 15 lbs. A wisp of a soul, Jessa fought her battle against cancer with the heart of a lion. She was so calm and so sweet and a little on the shy side, but that did not stop her from showing lots of love. Surrendered to animal rescue after her elderly mom passed away; we saw the love this sweet girl had to offer and had her tumors surgically removed to save her life! We raised funds and she had several sponsors trying to fight this battle with her.

Jessa had a very good quality of like up until the end when the cancer beat her body, but not her spirit. Rather than dying in a cage alone, her foster mom Mary opened up her home to lovely Jessa where she had a real family in the last months of her life. I am sure she was so very happy to have the love of a family again to comfort her and prepare her for her Journey to the Bridge.

What brings US comfort is knowing that we gave her more life than most shelters would have given to her considering the expensive surgery and aftercare she endured. And…we know now she will join her owner that passed away before…never to be apart again. We were just her “safe keepers” until they could be reunited in a life better than this one.

We can only wish to have such courage as little Jessa showed if ever we are faced with a similar life and death struggle to survive.

If Jessa could leave one legacy behind it is that we shouldn’t give up fighting for those souls that need us.

A heartfelt thank you to all the veterinarians, volunteers, sponsors and especially to Mary for giving Jessa the dignified and loving home she truly deserved.

You will always be remembered with love and smiles.

Safe Journey Sweet Jessa.
