My husband found Katy roaming around the back of his father’s house a stray looking for something to eat. I was not a cat person and I did not want him to bring home a homeless cat to our college apartment especially one that looked so frail and sick. He brought her home anyway and we took her to the vet and eventually nursed her back to health.
During that time I learned to love her and the joy and companionship she brought to both of us. Katy loved to sit in the window and watch everyone in the apartment complex come and go. She also loved to sit on the living room table and watch TV as well as sit on out laps while we were watching TV studying etc. When we got a puppy I was afraid she would resent her but she didn’t. They used to play together – Katy would swat at Java and Java would bark at her and then try and get Katy to chase after her.
I really miss watching the two of them play. As Katy got older (we had no idea how old she was) she wouldn’t do a lot of the things she used to do but she still loved to claw open the bread and take a few bites!! We knew she was getting old but we did not realize how sick she was until it was too late. Katy passed away from feline diabetes on May 28 2002.
We love you Katy and
we (and Java) miss
you very much!!!!
