MY BEAUTIFUL MARLEY
With your knotted dreads and hurting hips
you entered my life
You were to be temporary til a good home found
Or your owner….surely there must be one
Noone claimed you and noone wanted you
A gorgeous untrusting dog with bad hips
Lucky for you I knew both problems could be fixed
Lucky for me, I fixed them and kept you
I learned you feared thunder and firecrackers
Your hiding spots are constant reminders
You learned bathing and grooming were tolerable
I learned patience like I never knew before
You learned I was meant to love you, not harm you
and when I left the house, I’d be returning
I’ll never forgot those battles at the door when at first you wouldn’t let me leave without you!
You learned our ShepX was to be top dog!
I learned that even if my yard had no fencing
my youngest son couldn’t have gone anywhere
You took such good care of him, he misses you so
You thanked me with such love and devotion
and no dog has ever given me quite that same look
I was your healer but you made me your leader
How I wish I could have healed you in the end
and how I wish you didn’t die alone at the vets
You must have been hiding your discomfort,
I wish you hadn’t done that for me.
My beautiful trusting dog..who proved to me that love, time and patience can conquer all
My sweet handsome Mo Mo
PLEASE ADOPT A NEEDY DOG, THEY ARE SO WORTH THE EFFORT!
Remaining forever in my heart,
