Mason by Dodson family

Mason was our beloved “mutt” who passed away yesterday, Sept. 16th. He was part lab and part springer spaniel and so black sometimes he looked blue. He came to us when he was about 2 years old having escaped from an abusive home and wandering in to our front yard while we were hanging Christmas lights, God must have known
to send him there, and he would be safe.

He was so pitiful…for the first year we had him he never barked. We assume that is because he got beaten in his previous home when he did. But that all changed when he figured out he was safe with us, after that we had a hard time shutting him up. Bless his heart, he was never a healthy dog, he suffered through heartworms, infected duclaws, and epilepsy. He was our patient and everyone at our vets office knew and loved him,
I often referred to him as the $ 5000.00 dog.

But his poor body had finally given up on him and he was swollen with fluid on his heart, in his belly and going in to liver failure, and we had to make a decision on what to do with him. Though it was heartwrenching, we all knew it was best to have him put to sleep and send him over the rainbow bridge to join his pals Misty, Prissy, and Buttons who had gone before him. I know they were waiting there for him with smiles on their little faces.

I know that he is now running through the meadows with his friends and free of pain and illness, and I am happy for him. It is just going to be so hard going home tonight and not hearing that bark, or yelling at him to not kill the chihuahua we also have….something he had wanted to do from the moment we brought the little one home….Tommy Lee did irritate the fool out of him, but on another note, he misses him terribly already as does his sister Sassy, and his feline friend Samantha, all his human friends, especially Barbi and Deanna, and of course his family misses him the most…

We love you Mason Duane and will miss you more than you can know and will see you again
when you meet us at the rainbow bridge.

We love you,

Mom, Dad,
Bubba, and Sister
