Olga “Sweetness””” by New Beginnings Shih Tzu & Friends Rescue / Bekye, Sharon, Odean, Deb & all your rescue family

A precious little stray, her body torn and her spirit crushed, came into my life yesterday. There is no telling how long she had lived with the pain of her wounds and the neglect and abuse that caused them. The shelter named her Olga, we called her Sweetness. She was barely two years old.

But her severely weakened and desperately ill body could go on no longer and in spite of our best efforts to give this tiny soul a beautiful new beginning, it was not to be.

In honor of our little girl’s valiant fight for life, from the song “Concrete Angel” by Martina McBride …

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can’t rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she’s loved
Concrete angel

Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it’ll be too late

A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot

~~

My precious little girl, I wish we could have found you sooner, or could have done more.

Fly with the angels, Sweetness, and know you are loved,
Olga "Sweetness"""
