PEANUT
You are my baby boy and my friend,
We share a true and unconditional love.
Now you are flying free,
With all the big birds above.
My heart is deeply broken,
Though I know you’ll forever be there.
And always meet me in my dreams,
To hold and preen my hair.
You are my little love bug,
Who loved to kiss and snuggle.
You came into my life with such love,
With a force that was anything but subtle.
You’re favorite place was perched close to my neck,
You’d flip your wings, grind your beak, give a kiss, and tuck your head.
Rocking you to sleep was a privilege,
But mostly rocking before we went to bed.
You are my Mr. Peanut,
With the strength of ten thousand men and more.
I would have never guessed you to be such a mighty bird,
Who only weighed in grams about one hundred and four.
Now you’re free with no suffering,
Free of medication and pain.
If I had to do it all over again,
It would only be both our gain.
Riding and sitting on my shoulder,
You’re favorite side was always my left.
Now in my heart and in my soul,
Is where you will always and forever nest.
