"A Celebration of Pepper"

My Dog My Companion My Friend

Dec. 1987 - Jan. 19 2000

Pepper the Pupper was half Samoyed

half German Shepherd and I loved her so much!

She was such a funny looking beautiful dog

with her Shepherd coat and

that gorgeous fluffy Samoyed tail

that didn't know which way to wag.

And her ears never stood up like they were supposed to

but flopped over on top.

I got Peppie as a 5-week old puppy

and was determined to "raise her right" and

have a nice well-behaved dog.

Ha! That idea lasted for 3 days. I made a nice

cozy bed for her in the laundry room

and she cried and howled all night long for 2 nights.

On the third night I couldn't stand it

any more and went and got her.

She curled up on my pillow and fell fast asleep ...

and got her way for the next 12 years!

She was such a happy confident dog

who loved everyone.

Even in her "old lady" years

she still loved to play and make

all of her funny little talking noises.

I've heard other people refer

to their pets as their "furbabies",

but in Pepper's mind she was my equal

and eventually I came to believe it too!

We were members of the same pack:

she was the "hairy" alpha dog and I was the

"hairless" alpha dog.

I could tell by the way she would try

to get all 70 pound

of her into the driver's seat with me

that she just *knew* she could drive the

car better than I could!

I think Peppie loved me as much as I loved her.

She was so happy to see me when

I got home and I was so happy to see her.

Dogs give such unconditional love

they teach us what love is all about.

Little Peppie - I miss you so much and cry

for you every day.

Time will lessen the pain

but I will never forget you.

You are in my heart forever.

I believe that you are waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge

and if love can make things happen

then I will see you at the Bridge for sure!
