Our precious Angel
" Piper "
May 15 1999 ----Sept. 3 1999
Kitten

Our little "Pipes" came to us from a horse stable one day while out
at our ranch in Southeast Texas. We were going to go riding when
he weaved his way around the horses and jumped wire fences to
introduce himself and let us know he was living under the bushes nearby.
We fed him some kitty food knowing he must've had it rough being
such a small kitten on a large farm. That night Piper and his kitten
Buddy Michi talked about it and decided that we were their last
chance of survival from the harsh environment.
So they left home and started their trek to the ranch house
about 100 meters away which probably seemed like miles to the
weak little barn-kitties.
After the journey they came crying to us at the ranch house as we
picked them up and held them reassuringly. We decided to take
Piper back to San Antonio for ourselves and let a friend take Michi
he stronger kitty back to Boston. Piper was a joy for us to have.
He was unique in that he was a polydactl meaning he had six toes
and an opposable thumb which got him a lot of attention.
He was very playful and made excellent friends with his older sister
Pandora whom we saved from the shelter 5 months earlier.
Even though Piper was much smaller he would pounce on Pandora
and cling to her neck while they chased each other across the living room.
A month later Piper fell very ill to an unknown virus.
The doctors couldn't tell us what was wrong as he grew more sick every day.
We prayed for the young kitten to pull through and he managed
to stay with us for three more weeks purring as we sat to comfort him.
On the morning of Sept. 3rd not being able to move Piper woke us
up knowing it was time.
We held him and told him it was o.k. to go as he passed away warm in our bed.
We love you "Pipey".
We hope you're safe.
