Saturn by Devorah Grunau / Mom, Dad, Zack, Brett, Michael and Francoise.

Saturn, beloved friend, loyal friend, silly cat. It is only a few hours since we had to put you down. I tried so hard to have you die here, sleeping beside me with my hand on your heart. But this morning, your suffering was too much and with broken hearts we took to the vet and let you go. We will bury you later.
Saturn, it was 13 years ago that we rescued you. You were funny looking then, and you were funny looking till you left us. You never did like the dogs or the other cats, but you tolerated everything. Your favorite things were rubs on the chin, and to sleep on my head. I rubbed your chin so much last night and after you died today, I rubbed it one last time.
I thank G-d for His graciousness in sending you to us and letting us love you for 13 years. I thank Him for your imperfect eyes and your swinging tummy. I thank Him for the trust and love you gave to us all these years.
We will miss you Saturn. Rabbi gave me a beautiful poem to read when we bury you.
I am going to post it in English under the prayers section.
Sleep well, our little tortoise hare. Safe journey and when you get to the place I know you will go, please say hi to Papa, Jasmine, Mars, Polaris (Lara) and Tas.

You were our blessing
