Sheba Lynn Starkey by Melinda & Larry

Where is my Sheba going when she makes that final walk? Is Heaven only for people? I know there’s a place where my Sheba will eat as often as she wants and get to go Bye-Bye a pool to swim in and chase Roland a peach tree or bush to scratch her butt on a daily run like she used to take with Daddy a place where she is healthier and running faster again.

Only then will she see again to chase flies and hear again and meet her Mom at the door just one more time. At the Rainbow Bridge Miss Sheba Lynn will wait until she sees her Humans. Across the Bridge we will all go together.

Sheba Lynn
Beloved English Cocker Spaniel

Sheba had 40 puppies before she retired. She was lovingly and respectfully bred because her temperament was good and her bloodline should have been extended. Her puppies were so very beautiful and in just about every color combination that an English Cocker could come in.

The litters were very large one having 12 puppies. Sheba was solid black with a touch of white on her neck. She was stunning! Sheba was very strong and healthy. On her daily walks she would get so excited we nicknamed her our little bulldozer. At about 15 we started to see a decline in her sight and hearing. She slept a whole lot at the end and paced a lot when she was up. I think that our strong little dog was very confused as to why things were not as they used to be. It was not uncommon to find her lost in a corner of a room unable to find her way.

It never daunted her; she could still give Sasha and Sara a run for their money when she was again pointed to the kitchen. She lived for her milk bones and treats! Much of the time she would lay in front of the pantry door half the day hoping for one more treat. We ended up keeping only one puppy from all of her litters (4) this was Sasha. Sasha will be 12 August 2 2001. Mother and Daughter lived a full happy life together with much care taken to see that they had a privileged life. This time period will be the first time Sasha has ever been without the companionship of her Mom. Thank God for adopted sister Sara to make SashaÆs new life a little easier. It will just be the Golden Girls now. That Yellow Lab was not a welcome addition to the family when she came on-board but bonding did happen.

Well my precious Beebs it is time to close the door on a life which would seem like Heaven on earth to most dogs or people. I did all I could for you and I will miss you so much. The house is not going to be the same without you! Yes we have Sasha and Sara and we love them very much but you were the Matriarch THE BOSS! Rest my precious baby. Thanks for all of the wonderful years and memories.

Much Love

Your Mom and Dad

“IF I SHOULD GROW FRAIL”

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain does keep me from my sleep
Then will you do what must be done
For this – the last battle -can’t be won.

You will be sad I understand
But don’t let grief then stay your hand.
For on this day more than the rest
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years
You wouldn’t want me to suffer so.
When the time comes please let me go.

Take me to where my needs they’ll tend
Only stay with me till the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree.
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don’t grieve that it must now be you
Who has to decide this thing to do.
We’ve been so close – we two – these years
Don’t let your heart hold any tears.
