Smokey,
You were a blessing and a joy to our home. Though you came to us as a baby – beaten, starved, and abandoned – your capacity for love and affection was bottomless. You loved everyone, and everyone loved you. You were always in the midst of wherever we were: on the kids’ beds, or under our feet in the kitchen, or in the middle of the floor, or on our laps, or mooching our chicken at dinner.
You had the loudest purr of any kitty we’ve ever seen. Even though you lived to be almost 10, you never stopped being a kitten. We don’t know what we’ll do without you.
Who’s going to steal Dad’s computer chair when he tries to sit down?
Who’s going to steal sis’s pencil when she’s trying to do her homework?
Who’s going to bite big brother’s feet when he’s in bed?
Who’s going to steal the ribbons when Mom’s trying to wrap presents?
Who’s going to lay under the Christmas tree, spying on us and trying to ambush Katie?
Who’s going to steal ornaments from the tree or all the bows from the presents?
9 1/2 years was not nearly enough time with you. You brought such love, joy, and laughter to our home. We will always have such wonderful memories of you.
It is our fondest hopes and prayers that you are reunited with our son and brother in Heaven, waiting for the day when we can all be together again as a family.
Sadly missing and lovingly remembering you,
