I was born in April of ’91 and my dog was born in Fall of 1990. So ever since I was born Snickers has been in my life. He was the greatest dog I could have ever asked for. He could always make me smile. I remember one day I was really sad and he could hear me crying, so he came and found me and started trying to comfort me and i’ll never forget that. He gave me so many great memories and I could never thank him enough.
Then about 6 months ago Snickers started going blind and deaf and was taking more falls as his legs were giving out more often. That hit me hard and I realized he wouldn’t be here forever. In November we decided we’d be going to Arizona for christmas and that Snickers final day would have to come before we left. Usually when we leave he howls and crys and doesn’t eat and we couldn’t put him through that pain again. In December the date was set and the time couldn’t have gone by any faster.
December 12th 2005 was a school day, I had to leave at 7:15 and Snickers had to “leave” at 10:00. I came down the stairs and layed by his bed until he woke up and then I gave him a treat, picked him up gave him a hug and walked out the door. I tryed holding back the tears since there would be many people at the bus stop. I made it through the whole day with only telling 2 people (I didn’t want to be depressing), but then on the bus ride home everyone was talking about weird things their dogs do and I was kind of off in my own little world. Until someone asked “Taylor, you have a dog, why aren’t you talking?” and I couldnt hold it in anymore. Snickers has been my life long friend and I will never forget him.
I'll miss you,
