Snuggles & the others by Jennifer Loudin / Mom

Snuggles was the only hen to survive out of 5 little SeBright chicks I bought, after a disease killed them real fast. A trip to the vet saved my one little girl in time and she got real attached to me. She was so special and loved sitting in my hand and getting pet. She would stand on my shoulder and play with my hair. She cried for me when I left her and whenever I would come back to her cage she would run to me all excited and jump right in my hand. I just loved that little thing.

My neighbor’s dog (Jack Russell) was outside without its electric collar (after I warned her that the dog was showing aggression towards my chickens). That thing ran onto my property and tried to attack my sister-in-law’s dog that I was dogsitting for..then ran into my garage and got my little Snuggles before I could get to her. She passed right in front of my after I finally got her out of that SOBs mouth. I am so angry and I just can’t talk to my neighbor since this happened. I miss her so much and the whole experience was so traumatic for me. I don’t know when I will heal from this but eventually I hope I can come to peace with the fact that I loved my little girl and gave her a good short life. Up until the moment she passed, she was a happy little creature.

I am sorry to say to anyone who has Jack Russells and loves them, I HATE them! They are useless killers. And those who own them should know this dog’s instincts and know to keep them under control around other animals. Because of my neighbors irresponsibility, my little girl is gone. Thankfully, it didn’t kill my sister-in-law’s dog too. People, please control your dogs!

I love you Snuggles and I hope you are at peace wherever you are. I tried to save you. I am so sorry I couldn’t.

With Love,
Snuggles & the others
