Tasha by Tom / Tom

Tasha came to us after being rescued and adopted by a very special family. Unfortunately they could not keep her as they also had rabbits and that did not mix will with an Alaskan Malamute. We had just lost our Siberian Husky of 15 years and welcomed Tasha with open arms. We then moved to a rural area and she had an acre to her own and could play with the neighbor’s horses and dogs by running back and forth along the fences. Tasha did not know any strangers and greeted everyone with the same enthusiasm.

In December of 2006 she started to loose weight and lost her appetite. The Vets all had different theories on what was wrong, but nothing worked. Over the next three months she lost 25 lbs and now weighed 60 lbs. Tasha was diagnosed with intestinal lymphatic cancer on March 28, 2007 during exploratory surgery, the disease was advanced and the stitches did not hold on her intestine tissue and on April 4, 2007 she lost her battle with the cancer demon as complications set in. The doctors said she would need extensive emergency surgery to remove the infections and could not give us any hope that it would be successful. There was no other option but to have her put to sleep. She never complained or gave any indication she had any pain over the past 3 months. Tasha just wanted
to be home with us.

I will miss taking her out to the road get the morning paper and again to pick up the mail in the afternoon, her greeting us when we came home, I will miss giving her belly rubs in the evening, but most of all I will miss the hugs she would give by pressing her head against my leg and waiting for me to acknowledge it by putting my hand on her head. Tasha was 13 years young and the 8 years she lived with us was too short and the years went by too fast. She will be sorely missed as we still can see her in the yard, sleeping on the patio, looking for her supper and keeping me company as I worked on the computer. We can still hear her moving sometimes at night through out the house.

My angel now has her wings.
