Taz by Anita

Taz came into our lives 2 years ago. My son and his friend found him on a busy road near our home. We had no idea how old he was or how long he had been on his own. He was the sweetest little dog all he wanted was to be loved. He was so friendly all he did when he saw you was give kisses and wag that little tail a mile a minute.

He seemed quite content to cuddle with a Tazmanian Devil doll my son’s friend had so Taz was what we named him. Because no one we knew could keep him I began trying to find him a home. I literally called every police department hoping someone had lost him and perhaps notified the police every agency they “had no room” I tried to place him with a woman in a nearby town who took in strays she too “had no room”. Even the Humane Society turned us away.

The only place was the shelter. They told me if he wasn’t adopted in one week he would be destroyed. They gave me his case number and said I could call to find out if he was adopted or… I never called. I would like to believe he was adopted and has a warm loving family to care for him but I don’t know.

I feel as if I let him down. He had the sweetest face brown eyes that seemed to have so much wisdom a gentle loving soul. Taz I only knew you for such a short time but I have never forgotten you your little paw prints will forever remain on my heart. I hope wherever you are you’re warm safe loved and cared for. You deserve that and so much more. I will never forget you.

Please forgive me.
I did want to be your mom.
I couldn’t at the time.
I’ll love you forever little man.
