Princess by Celeste

"Princess"

September 1991 ----- October 1998

Doberman

My parents also wanted a Doberman.

As their daughter I loved all animals

so they got a Dobie puppy.

My Mom went crazy and couldn't keep her

hands off her.

They got Princess as a puppy in 1991

and were so happy

and

enjoyed her big feet clumpy

through the house and chasing their other dog

Dusty (a Llama Apso with the heart of a Doberman).

Little did we know that soon

things would change.

By December my mother was ill with Cancer.

Princess wanted to play

like most puppy's and she couldn't understand

why no one played with her.

My dad had his own business so he took her with him in

his truck each day

even to the hospital to visit mom.

My mom passed away in May of 1992.

It was hard to let her go

but a blessing that she was no

longer in pain.

Princess became my dad's constant companion

I don't know

if he could have gotten

through those days without her

always by his side.

Then in April 1995

Dad had a heart attack

and a few weeks later passed away.

Someone gave Princess to a friend of my dad's

knowing I wanted her.

They couldn't keep her in an apartment (upstairs)

with no yard and home alone.

They took her to a Doberman Rescue

thinking they would place her.

I called the friend see how she was doing

and found out she was at this shelter.

Without even asking my husband

he was out the door and on

his way to pick her up.

He found her tied

to a fence outside and scared to death.

This was a dog who used to

sleep on the bed and couch

and had only known kindness and love.

We already had 4 dogs

which was the limit

but my husband knew how much she meant to me.

She was like an extension to my parents.

She had stayed with us

as her dog sitters and we were family to her.

She brought great joy to our home and love.

She was 95 pounds of pure heart and love.

She always loved men.

She liked everyone

but she would do anything

for a man young or old.

Princess lived with us for 4 years

and was a wonderful pet.

She died of heart failure in her sleep

on her favorite place the couch.

One day she was with us

the next an empty place in our hearts.

It was hard like losing my

parents again and the last link with them.

She made all of us so happy.
