My Dearest Lucy,

You came into my life 15 years ago a tiny sweet little puppy

and I loved you from the first day.

You were sick with Distemper but we tried everything possible

to make you well even though the odds were against you.

I had to take you to the vet so many times for shots and medication.

I know you were frightened but I guess you knew it was something I had to do

because you always trusted me.

I know that first year was so hard on you

but we had so many wonderful years ahead of us.

I know that each day was a gift and I am thankful

for all the unconditional love and happiness you brought into my life.

You were with me thru the end of my marriage

and the death of my Mother.

There is a special bond between us

and I still feel your presence with me now.

You loved to play ball and bring in the newspaper.

Sometimes you amazed me

by doing something that seemed beyond a dog's intelligence.

You were so very special to me - my little girl -

these past 15 years would have been so empty without you.

It has been one week tonight since you left me

and I miss you so much punkin'.

Penny misses you too...she seems to look up at me

and say "where's my sister?"

I regret that I didn't stay with you at the vet that last day.

I just had no idea you wouldn't make it thru the night.

You were gone within 10 hours and I'm thankful you didn't suffer for a long time.

I know my pain will subside as time goes by and

the happiness that you brought to my life will be in my heart forever.

You were my little shadow and all you ever wanted

was to be close to me.

You still are sweetheart and when the pain of losing you eases up

the wonderful memories of my little Lucy

will be with me always.

I know you are with my Mom and she is taking good care of you

until we are all together again.

I will always love you and miss you...

I'm so thankful you were a part of my life.

 You be a good girl,

Momma
