Tortoise Shell Kitten
You were the one who was the challenge to save.
I never gave up on you. I do realize now that you never really
had a chance but I had to try. We did make a great and
valiant attempt at a life for you. And the
most important thing is that YOU WERE LOVED.
I think about our last day together-your last day on this earth.
We played outside in the sun and the leaves.
You chased shadows while I took pictures. Without a doubt,
you were the sweetest and most lovable kitten I have ever rescued.
I still think of you as rescued even though we lost the fight
with leukemia virus. You knew love and the touch of a caring
human even at your last breath.
My hope is that somehow you understood that we did the
best we could and that letting you go in a peaceful
manner was the last thing we could do for you.
You are greatly missed sweet one.
FOR ANYONE READING THIS -
PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR PETS ROAM
OR INDISCRIMINATELY BREED. OUR KEESHA WAS FOUND
ON A FARM UNDERNOURISHED AND!
SORELY IN NEED OF TENDER LOVING CARE.
NO ONE KNEW WHAT HAPPENED TO HER MOTHER
OR LITTER MATES. WE TOOK HER IN FED AND
CARED FOR HER AS OUR OWN.
SHE TESTED POSITIVE FOR LEUKEMIA VIRUS AND
IT BROKE OUR HEARTS TO HAVE HER PUT TO SLEEP.
WE GAVE HER ONE LAST GLORIOUS DAY TO PLAY AND
BE LOVED THEN WE HELD HER AND SPOKE SOFTLY
TO HER AS SHE PEACEFULLY SLEPT AWAY.
SLEEP WELL LITTLE ONE.
