" Ragg's "
aka " Miss Diggles "
April 1985 ----- Jan. 1998
Cockapoo
We adopted Raggs a cockapoo
in August of 1985 from our local SPCA.
From day one she claimed the male members of our household
as her own. My husband turned out to be the love of her life,
and she his. For some reason my husband called her "Miss Diggles."
She was his until the day she died.
Gardening going to the gas station waiting for my husband each
day to finish with his shower so she could get her morning cookie
and a drink of water before he left for work made her very happy.
You should have seen these two when it came time to crash on
the couch and watch TV. Her on his chest and both snoring.
Of course my husband claimed it was Ragg's that was doing all
the snoring. Sounded like the fifth symphony around here.
Raggs did some strange things the we still don't understand to
this day. She'd wait until it was late at night sneak into the bathroom,
turn the wastebasket over and proceed to shred the toilet paper
into small bits leaving me to pick it up each morning.
We also have a cupboard out in the garage that held her attention
all the thirteen years we had her. She would go and sit and stare
at the cupboard doors which we would open then hold her up,
let her look inside. We never did figure out what she wanted.
Then came the day I dreaded. She had been ill for a few weeks.
One morning I found her unable to get up so I called the vet knowing
what was going to happen. He examined her and said she had cancer.
At her age and as weak as she was he didn't think she would survive
the operation. He said I could leave her and he would take care of the
situation for me or I could stay with her. I decided to be with her as
it was the least I could do for our loving Raggs. I held her in my
arms telling her how much we loved her what a good girl she was that
I was sorry we had to let her go. Within a few moments I felt her relax,
and I knew she was gone. She had a peaceful death and I'm thankful
I stayed with her. We're sure she made it to the Rainbow Bridge
where I know she's happy. Not a day goes by that we don't think
of her. I know she's happy to be with all the other dogs that have made
the trip to the bridge.
Ragg's thanks for coming into our lives!
