A Tribute to Benny

From the first moment

that little black ball of fur saw me

and cried out to be taken home

Benny had been my bestest buddy.

He was a real talker being part siamese

always making his presence known with his vocabulary of

meows and expressions.

He was friendly to all humans young and old.

He even had an over sized purr motor because he needed one.

He loved it when we moved out to farm country.

This seems to have really allowed him

all the prowling room he needed.

Always a whistle away

he was an expert mouser and seemed to enjoy the times

he brought home mice birds

bats and even a small rabbit for my approval.

When I met Natalie and her children

Brittany and Alex

he welcomed them into our home.

Natalie and I were married on October 19 1999 and sadly when

we returned from our honeymoon

we noticed Benny's health rapidly

deteriorating.

It was as if he knew that it was time

to pass on the responsibility of

loving me and caring for me to someone else.

After 15 wonderful years he was slowing down

and perhaps didn't feel he

could live up to the high level

of care and giving

he had set for himself in that time.

So the torch is passed on to Natalie

who has vowed to love me

forever.

It is hard for me to believe

that any human or animal

will ever replace the love I have for my Benny

bestest kitten of all time.

He pledged to love me forever with every fiber of his being

every single day in every

way that a cat can say I love you.

I don't know if there is a heaven.

But Benny will certainly be welcomed in

that place where all great family pets must go.

Thank you for letting

me post this tribute to my wonderful cat.

My condolences to all who have felt the

pain of losing a best friend and companion.

Probably the most unhappy and loneliest time of my life.

I feel better knowing

that he is buried in our back yard

with a stone monument

marking his resting-place.

I will visit his grave for a quiet moment every day,

just to reflect on how lucky I was

to have known such a fine and loving

creature.

Thank you,

Neil
