Chicklet Prancing Girl

" Chicklet Prancing Girl "

March 23 1992 ---------- June 6 1999

West Highland Terrier

Chicklet you were our prancing girl our small,

sweet white rectangle from the first.

When we went to pick you out of 10 puppies,

you came over and untied Mom's shoestring.

You were ours from the first. Dad named you.

As a puppy you looked like a white cat you went

everywhere in Mom's purse and were much loved.

You were lonely so we got you Leona.

She would hide under the coffee table and bark at you.

Leona exerted her dominance and claimed Mom as her own.

You put up with her growling and bad moods.

You danced for us and with us. When Mom danced

at the iron board you came along and danced too.

You smiled and always loved all of us.

When we were sick you laid in bed with us when we were

sad you cheered us and you smiled.

Whenever the van went anywhere you had to go.

You were a blessed dog. You were a chocolate hound you

could smell it you ate Mom's candy bars and

Matt and Mike's Halloween candy.

You loved cheese and you would dance for it.

You and Leona walked like a matched set of horses and

everyone knew you as the two white dogs.

You were one of our fire dogs you and Leona would bark

to warn us when the smoke detector went off.

When you walked you pranced head up tail up you were

a beautiful dog with the prettiest brown eyes.

On your last day with us you went through the flower bed

with Mom as she told you about each flower you went to it.

You were killed on a road at night Leona stood guard over

you until someone came along.

At the end Leona did not forget your care of her.

She said good-bye for all of us and she

kept you safe until a wonderful couple came along and picked

up a dead dog and one dirty and wet because

"they belonged together"

Dad buried you behind the shop between two trees with

your toys and we marked your grave with a large piece of slate.

We loved

you and will miss you.

Deborah
