In Loving Memory My Best Friend

Our family got Patches when I was two years old and

my brother and sister were older than I.

The memories I have of our life together with Patches are

still very much alive the love I feel for him still makes me

cry I miss him so much. We got Pappy from the dog pound,

he was six weeks old when we got him.

I remember the day we picked him out while walking to

his cage and him whimpering and licking my fingers.

Pappy was such a Special boy as I got older I started to walk

him on a leash and he would walk right next to me. He was so

careful not to hurt me as we walked he walked so proud.

When anyone else in the family tried to walk him they

would have to put up with him running and not listening.

When Pappy was two My family went to Georgia to visit

our family Pappy was with us he went were ever we went .

We were going out to eat and Patches had been laying under the

car and dad thought he was out started backing out and

knocked his eye out. He was taken to the vet and he said he

couldn't save his eye but that patches could live with one eye

and that is what he did. Patches was not a very good dog when

he was with the vet he wouldn't eat for him so we had to go

and see him while he was there and he was so proud when we

walked in to see him. Patches was very protective of us kids

I remember going for a walk when we were camping and

he saw another dog a Doberman and he went nutty as the dog

got close to me he was growling and ready to fight and didn't

back down from his job as a protector.

As he got older there was one time he got lost for two

days by this time I was around 7 or 8 years old and I cried myself to

sleep and all I could think of was him. On the second day a friend

of mine and her dad and little sister went with her dad to see

his friend about two miles from our house and we were sitting

there and I see this white with one brown ear running toward

us and I jumped up and knew instantly that is was Pappy and

yelled to him to come. He ran so fast and jump into my arms all

I could do was cry happy tears.

There so many memories of him that it take forever to write

all of them. I was like 18 when the time came that cancer had taken

over my best friends body and he was suffering we had to put him

to sleep so he would be out of pain on the day came and

Patches and I took are last walk together down the street and

came back to our favorite tree in front of the house and

was like a puppy again sitting in my lap I feel in my Heart of Hearts he

new that it was the last walk we would ever share together.

I cry even now thinking of it.

I LOVE MY BABY BOY PATCHES RONALD RICKY

AND KNOW THAT SOME DAY WE WILL MEET AGAIN.

LOVE YOU ALWAYS PAPPY!!
