I met Mr. Melo where I worked – a print shop in Manhattan. He was very domineering with the other cats he lived with so he moved to our shop. I enjoyed seeing him everyday at work. I started to take him home on long weekends because I felt bad leaving him alone. We formed a good freindship and eventually his previous owner Gavin gave him to me. It was one of the best presents I got. I think Melo felt the same way. He got a new family – myself my sister Jenni my parents and my Husband Eddie. He also had a few cats join him for companionship. First there was Nicky. I remember a lot of hissing from Melo that day when Nicky joined the family. Nicky followed Melo around everywhere. Melo finally gave in and they slept on the couch together. So much for the domineering cat he was earlier in his life! Later he also lived with Furball Jr. Corrigan and Bonnie.
Memories of unwanted baths hanging out on the terrace begging for food and sleeping on my pillow each evening. Unfortunately Melo became sick with Diabetes and lived with the disease for almost 3 years. He moved in with my sister Jenni Mom and Dad who took care of him because we were having our first baby. My family did a wonderful job taking care of him and giving the him a place to live out the rest of his years.
Yesterday we lost our little buddy Mr. Melo at 11:08 am. Dad was there petting him when he went to heaven. I was on my way but didn’t make it. I guess it was meant to be but I am glad I saw him the night before and said my last goodbyes. He knew I was there because he gave me a tiny little head butt and enjoyed me rubbing him under his chin.
Melo we all will remember you and the wonderful times you gave us. I hope you are at peace and spending time with our loved ones who also passed on. You are a great strong and loving cat. Thank you for being in our lives! We love you and will miss you. May God be with you!
Hugs and kisses
