I would like to submit a letter that our daughter wrote on the day that we buried Tootsie.
Dear Tootsie – Life is forever changing and one has to deal with those changes. You passed on to a better place on January 15th 2001 which happened to be Dad’s birthday. I didn’t want to do it but you were suffering and I wanted to relieve your pain. I held you as you slipped away. I hope that you were comfortable and peaceful. Please forgive me because I was the last person you saw. I loved you and will truly miss you. We have shared a long life together 16 1/2 years of happiness and sadness. I remember being a young girl begging and pleading with mom and dad for you very shortly afterward you came home. Your life was very good and you dealt with the intrusion of four puppies along the way. You were still boss and ran the household no matter how much they bugged you. I will always have fond memories of you at the lake where you are buried at home with puppies and you as a confidant that I could talk to and cry too. We shared a deep relationship and you learned all of my deepest thoughts and secrets. Tootsie it hurts that you are gone and the pain overtakes but that is my expression of love to you. Everyone will miss you and you will always be in our hearts. With this I say good-bye to a special member of my life. You have affected many lives mom, dad, dave,me,skye, chinook, mya and lightning(baby). We all miss you and hope you are happy wherever you are and I hope that you are at peace.
