My sweet Katie was diagnosed with Laryngeal Paralysis just about a month ago but was experiencing the symptoms for about seven months now. After a lot of pain and suffering we put Katie to sleep today March 9 2001. It was the hardest thing we ever had to do but at least she was able to pass in a peaceful painless manner.
Katie entered our lives in August of 1989 as a young pregnant homeless puppy who was going to be put to sleep if we hadn’t adopted her. The vet estimated her to be about 10 months old. She had eleven healthy puppies in late November of ’89 and was an awful mother!
Katie proved to be the smartest sweetest best-mannered loyal and loving dog any family could have asked for. She was a member of our family not just a pet. She was a friend a comfort and a true love. Katie loved kids and was very gentle and kind with them. Members of our extended family who didn’t really like dogs loved Katie.
Her favorite activities included swimming going for walks laying on the deck in the sun guarding the flower boxes against squirrels playing hide-and-go-seek eating taking rides in the car playing fetch with the tennis ball vacuuming the kitchen floor for crumbs and just being with her family.
Katie you really are the best dog in the world and we love you very much. I will never forget you and you will always be my girl.
